My 16 month old really likes this book. She loves to point out the eyes, lift the flaps, and identify the animals. I like that there is a wide range of animals and /5(13). Seeing Nature is a series of true stories or parables that offer tools for understanding relationships in the natural world.

Many of the stories take the reader to wild landscapes, including canyons, tundra, and mountain ridges, while others contemplate the human-made world: water-diversion trenches and supermarket check-out lines/5(10).

"Nature" refers to the phenomena of the physical world, and also to life in general. It ranges in scale from the subatomic to the cosmic. The word nature is derived from the Latin word natura, or "essential qualities, innate disposition", and in ancient times, literally meant "birth". I selected this book hoping it would jumpstart a new way of looking at nature for my children.

I'm not sure if it will, but they were engaged as I read and stared at the photography on each page. As is usual with this type of book, the extra notes at the end are helpful for further investigation and discussion after the book has ended/5.
